WHAT WE EAT: CHOCOLATE SPRINKLE DONUTS

Happy Donut Day!!
For our second donut we wanted to do something fun and tasty so we chose a baked chocolate donut heavy on the sprinkles.

INGREDIENTS:

For the donuts:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup sprinkles
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
6 tablespoons sour cream
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil

For the glaze:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
6 tablespoons whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe adapted from Buns In My Oven

Donuts:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 6-donut pan. Gather all dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking soda and cocoa) and mix together in medium bowl. In a second bowl combine eggs, sour cream, milk, oil, and vanilla. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir until combined. Fold in sprinkles. Spoon into your donut pan and bake 8 minutes or until the tops spring back. Remove from pan and cool on rack completely before dipping in the glaze.

Glaze:
Heat the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla in a small saucepan over low heat until fully combined. Once donuts have cooled, dip in the glaze and then top with sprinkles of your choice.

Tip: Instead of shaking the sprinkles on top we dipped our donuts in sprinkles right after the glaze to get complete coverage.

We hope you have as much fun making these as we did!
Happy Baking!
