WHAT WE WEAR: BANGS AND BRAIDS

I tend to spend approximately zero minutes fixing my hair each morning. Thank goodness unkempt waves are in (*fingers crossed* that they never go out of style). When I decided to get bangs, I felt like my hair finally got something interesting it deserved. And with my recent venture into red, my hair is officially in exciting new territory. I've always loved maiden braids, and think they pair really well with bangs. It's also a shockingly easy style to fix, even for the hair impaired like myself. I used the tips from a tutorial found here.

WHAT WE WEAR: ANTHROPOLOGIE SPRING FAVES

We are so excited to show you guys a few more pictures from our shoot with Kat Marcum! We loved all of her ideas and couldn't wait to take some pics on this giant staircase! There may or may not have been a wedding ceremony happening in the building at the top of the stairs so we did some quick poses (and gave a few late attendees directions) before the Bride and Groom emerged from behind the double doors!

For these outfits we wanted to showcase some of our favorite spring items from Anthropologie, not to mention THE cutest french bulldog tote!

WHAT WE WEAR: BRIGHT FLORAL PRINTS

We recently learned that store-bought helium balloons have a short life span so after our friend Leah's shower we thought the best way to get the most out of them was to have a little spring time photo shoot!

My favorite part was that it was so beautiful outside and finally warm enough to wear something other than a sweater! If there is one thing we aren't afraid of it's bright colors and big prints so we brought them out at the first opportunity. These fun floral dresses were the perfect kick-off to a much needed spring.

Biggest regret of the day? Not singing the helium versions of our favorite songs.

WHAT WE WEAR: PHOTOS WITH KAT MARCUM

We are so excited to finally share these amazing photos from the wonderfully talented Kat Marcum with you! Kat is a local Lexington photographer who specializes in weddings and portrait photography. Be sure to check out her fabulous work here and here. We were so lucky to get the opportunity to work with her and share her pictures on the blog. She couldn't have done a better job at making us feel comfortable in front of the camera, despite how awkward we try to be. Kat was a delight to work with and we can't wait to share more of her photos in the future!

WHAT WE WEAR: KEEPING IT CASUAL

Not too long ago when I heard the word "casual" my mind immediately went to spandex. And baggy t-shirts. And my Mickey Mouse sweatshirt with an ice cream stain on it. Eventually, however, I figured out that days off work, running errands, and coffee dates didn't mean I had to look like a bum on laundry day. A lot of times dresses can be just as comfortable (maybe even more!) than sweatpants. Once you've found a great casual dress, just throw on a few accessories in fun colors and cozy fabrics to bring it all together.

Dress/Anthropologie, Pullover/Anthropologie, Scarf/Forever21, Shoes/Minnetonka (here)

This dress is a great lightweight chambray that I love. It's easy to throw on in the summertime or layer with sweaters in spring. The pullover is equally as adorable, and I love that the color says it's 90 degrees but the fleece-lined sweatshirt says it's actually 40. Both are by Sam & Lavi, a brand Anthropologie carries that I've never been disappointed with!

And a final shoutout to my Minnetonka moccassins, which you can probably find me wearing at least 5 days in a week in all seasons. Easily the comfiest shoes I've ever owned, and look cute with dresses, shorts, pants, leggings, anything!

What are your go-to favorites for casual days?

Stay tuned to D+D for some exciting new posts next week! It's something we're particularly excited about and should get everyone excited for spring.

XO, Paige

WHAT WE WEAR: THE OUTTAKES

Dresses + Donuts is officially a month old! Thanks SO MUCH to those who are following and supporting us with your kind and encouraging words! We're loving the journey so far, but also learning there's a lot of trial and error with all the logistics of having a blog. Finding places to take pictures, dealing with the elements, nosy passerby's... style shoots are always an adventure. But at the end of the day, we're passionate about what we're doing and having so much fun through all of it. So we thought it'd be fun to share some of our outtakes from our first posts. (Because before every good picture, there were probably at least a million awkward faces and poses) Enjoy!

Here's to embracing those awkward moments and hoping modeling comes more naturally to us in the future :)

WHAT WE WEAR: BIRTHDAY STYLE

So I turned 23 yesterday. I once read a Buzzfeed list that ranked all the years of your 20's from best to worst, and 23 was ranked as the worst! Luckily, I've been asking around and I've heard that it actually isn't so bad. (I guess everything you read on the Internet isn't true? Crazy.) And after a wonderful day of coffee, friends, and lobster mac and cheese, I have pretty good feelings for 23!

This dress has been deemed the "Kelly Kapowski" dress at work (Saved By the Bell, anyone?) and I instantly fell in love with its retro floral pattern. I decided to style it like a modern day Kelly with a cropped denim jacket and my favorite d'Orsay flats.
Dress/Anthropologie (on sale!), Denim Jacket/Anthropologie (similar here), Flats/ModCloth

Also, I have a love for unconventional birthday banners. My inspiration for our "feelin' fresh" banner was these party banners from Urban Outfitters.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Here's to celebrating birthdays in outfits that make you feel Kelly Kapowski cool.
